Job summary

Downer in Queenstown is seeking a Line Mechanic to install, maintain and repair overhead and underground electricity networks across the region. This hands-on role offers diverse sites, outdoor work, and opportunities to contribute to reliable power for communities.

Qualifications

Te Kōwhiringa | The Opportunity

As a Line Mechanic, you'll install, maintain and repair overhead and underground electricity network infrastructure across the Queenstown region. From planned maintenance and upgrades through to outage response, you'll play a key role in keeping communities connected.

This is a hands-on, outdoor role where no two days are the same - you'll be working across a range of sites and conditions to keep the network operating at its best.

Ngā Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills

We are looking for candidates with EWRB registration or equivalent assessment, along with:

• New Zealand registered Line Mechanic, or Streetlight Level Standard qualification
• Current full Class 1 driver's licence
• Ability to work independently and manage your own time effectively when required
• Strong commitment to safety, including completing daily safety documentation, job sheets, and timesheets accurately
• Flexibility to travel and work away from home when required
• Willingness to participate in an on-call roster for outage response
• Strong attention to detail and a practical, hands-on approach
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment
• Basic computer skills and confidence using workplace systems
