Job summary

The Lines Company is seeking a Line Mechanic to join our Service Delivery Team, based at the Taumarunui Depot. You will help ensure a reliable electricity supply for network customers and report to the Field Operations Supervisor.

We require a current EWRB certificate or equivalent, 33 kV experience, and a full Class 1 licence (Class 2 preferred). This full-time role involves shift coverage, regional work, and a 24-hour callout roster in a community-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Hold minimum EWRB limited certificate (ANZCO code 342211).
• NZQA Level 4 Distribution Line Mechanic certification or equivalent.
• Full Class 1 drivers licence - preference for Class 2.
• 33 kV distribution network experience.

Mō te tūranga | About the Role

As a Line Mechanic, you'll be a key part of our wider Service Delivery Team, helping ensure a reliable electricity supply for our network customers. Reporting to the Field Operations Supervisor, this role is based at our Taumarunui Depot.

Key responsibilities include:

• Network fault finding and repair
• Network maintenance including proactive and corrective maintenance of 230V, 400V, 11kV and 33kV overhead lines and underground cables
• Operation and switching activities
• New electrical reticulation construction

Hourly rates range between $33.00 to $38.00 per hour dependent on skills and experience, with opportunities for overtime and allowance. This is a full-time, permanent role at a minimum of 40 hours a week between 7:00am and 6:00pm. You will also be a part of our 24-hour callout roster.

• The ability to self-start and work independently and as part of a team

• Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills with a collaborative style of engagement and experience dealing with internal and external parties.
• Commitment to the provision of quality services and meeting customer needs.

• An uncompromising approach to Health & safety and ability to drive H&S excellence through a controlled network environment for all works carried out on or supporting the network.
• Living locally is crucial to allow a timely response to faults.
