Job summary

Downer Wellington seeks a hands-on Line Mechanic to install, maintain and repair overhead and underground power networks. You’ll work in a team to restore services safely during outages, upgrades, and emergencies, in an outdoor environment across multiple sites.

The role requires NZ Line Mechanic registration or Streetlight Level Standard, a full Class 1 licence, and a strong safety mindset with daily documentation and timesheet discipline.

Qualifications

• NZ registered Line Mechanic or Streetlight Level Standard qualification.
• Full Class 1 driver’s licence required.
• Able to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Strong commitment to safety and accurate documentation.
• Willingness to travel and stay away from home when required.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair overhead and underground power network infrastructure.
• Work as part of a team to ensure outages are restored safely and quickly.
• Perform routine inspections and respond to faults and emergencies.
• Operate outdoors across varied sites and conditions.

We're looking for a Line Mechanic to join our Wellington team and help deliver safe, reliable, and efficient electricity network services.

In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground power network infrastructure. You'll work as part of a team that ensures essential services are restored quickly and safely, particularly during outages, upgrades, and emergency events.

This is a hands-on, outdoor role where no two days are the same - you'll be working across a range of sites and conditions to keep the network operating at its best.
