Job summary

Cardrona Alpine Resort is seeking a Lifts Mechanic to join our dedicated team in Queenstown, New Zealand. This permanent, year‑round position on the ski field will focus on keeping lifts running safely and efficiently through all seasons.

A passion for mechanics and proven lift maintenance experience are essential. You will be among the first up the mountain each day, handling diverse tasks, staying calm under pressure, and reporting to the Maintenance Manager.

Qualifications

• Must hold a mechanical or engineering trade certification or have hands-on lift maintenance experience.
• Experience working with ski lifts/ropeways or similar equipment is highly valued.
• Comfortable working in alpine environments and handling challenging terrain.

Responsibilities

• Perform lift maintenance to ensure safe, reliable operation year-round.
• Troubleshoot and repair lift systems; respond quickly to issues on site.
• Report to the Maintenance Manager and collaborate with the team to prevent downtime.

Cardrona Alpine Resort is seeking a Lifts Mechanic to join our dedicated team. This is a permanent position working all year round on the ski field. If you have a passion for mechanics and a proven track record in lift maintenance, we want to hear from you!

As a Lifts Mechanic, you'll be one of the first up the mountain each day, ensuring our lifts run smoothly and safely year-round. Your mechanical prowess and maintenance skills will be crucial in maintaining the safety and efficiency of our operations. You'll handle various tasks, stay calm under pressure, solve problems with ease and report to the Maintenance Manager.

About you

• You hold a mechanical or engineering trade certification, or bring hands-on experience with ski lifts, ropeway systems, or similar equipment.
• Comfortable working in alpine or mountainous environments.
• Confident operating snowmobiles, ATVs, and 4x4 vehicles - a definite plus!
• Known for your proactive mindset and team-first attitude.
• You bring a strong "can-do" approach to every challenge.
• Bonus points if you're passionate about skiing, snowboarding, or mountain biking!
