Job summary

Auckland Council in Henderson/Massey is seeking a Librarian to engage Pasifika communities and co-create library services and activations. The role requires weekend work in a 32-hour schedule, Sunday to Wednesday.

You will help customers access resources and contribute to community-focused programs that enrich lifelong learning. We value a flexible, all-rounder who can design and deliver innovative programmes, support operations, and promote inclusion including te reo Māori me ōna tikanga.

Qualifications

  • Experience in public library services.

  • Full, clean license or ability to travel if required.

Job description

We are seeking a Librarian for the Library Services team at Te Manawa Hub. The current focus of the role is centred around engaging and building relationships with Pasifika communities in the Henderson/Massey Local Board area and developing relevant services in line with community need.

This is a 32-hour position and as we are a 7-day operation there is a requirement to work a weekend day and late nights. Currently this role works Sunday to Wednesday.

Te Manawa is a busy hub with a strong community focus, offering a welcoming, inclusive environment. You’ll engage with customers daily, helping them access resources and services, and contribute to community-focused programmes that enrich lives and inspire lifelong learning.

The current focus of this role is:

Engage and build connections with our Pasifika communities to co-produce and develop relevant library services programming and activations.

Maintain & promote a Pasifika collection that reaches the heart of Pasifika communities & customers.

Support wider Library Services programming.

Support the wider team in day-to-day operations and customer service.

Please note that as this role will require regular outreach, a full, clean license or ability to travel is preferred.

Seeks to work from an indigenous world view to uplift and affirm Pasifika voices, experiences and culture.

Can build trusting relationships with a diverse range of communities.

Is passionate about making a difference in the community.

Can design, adapt, and deliver innovative and value-added programmes and events in line with community need.

The salary range for this role is between $78,311 to $92,130 per annum, based on skills & experience.
