Job summary

Elm Park School seeks two Learning Assistants to join our Support Staff team. The roles cover learning support and library/resource work, 8.30 am–3.30 pm, Monday to Friday during school terms. You will support tamariki with learning and behavioural needs, work closely with teachers, and contribute to the school community.

Ideal candidates are empathetic, positive, energetic, physically fit, resilient and calm team players. Applicants must be eligible to work in New Zealand and have NZ residency.

Qualifications

• Empathy and a positive approach to supporting tamariki with learning and behavioural needs.
• Ability to work as part of a team with teachers and support staff.
• Experience working with children is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers to implement learning support programmes.
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support for children with learning, behavioural, social and emotional needs.
• Engage with tamariki during break times through sports and activities.
• Contribute to the wider school learning support team.
• Support library/resource tasks for the second LA role.
