Salt Digital Recruitment is seeking a Permanent Lead React Developer based in Auckland, New Zealand. This role offers flexible hybrid working arrangements and a competitive salary range of NZD 160,000–175,000 per annum.

The successful candidate will lead frontend development teams, advocate best practices, and work on innovative projects. An extensive background in JavaScript and React, along with team-leading experience, is required. Applicants must have a valid New Zealand work visa.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience as a lead or senior developer, preferably with team-leading experience.
• Proficient in CI/CD pipelines and Git for version control.
• Strong understanding of clean, scalable, maintainable code practices.

Responsibilities

• Report to the Architect and Technology Director, overseeing three squads that include client and internal members.
• Lead and mentor frontend developers across multiple squads, fostering collaboration between client and internal teams.
• Build robust, performant, and accessible web applications, partnering with multidisciplinary teams to design and implement technically sound solutions.
• Advocate best practices for quality and security, help evolve engineering standards, and mentor junior developers.
• Write clean, scalable, and maintainable code across the web stack.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience as a lead or senior developer, preferably with team‑leading experience.
• Strong expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Proficiency in React web development (React 18+, React Router, Context API, hooks). Familiarity with React Native and Next.js is a plus.
• Experience with headless CMS platforms such as Contentful or Contentstack (preferred).
• Exposure to automated testing tools such as Playwright.
• Proficient in CI/CD pipelines and Git for version control and collaborative workflows.
• Solid understanding of clean, scalable, maintainable code practices.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
