We are excited to announce a permanent opportunity at Beca, where you will support innovative digital initiatives that drive data-driven decisions and actionable insights. Collaborating with our business and technology teams you will help create a shared understanding of needs and contribute to a broad range of analytical and innovative solutions. Your work will address real world, complex and unique problems across various business lines, clients, countries and technology platforms.

We are seeking a Lead Data Engineer with extensive experience delivering enterprise-scale data engineering solutions and a passion for innovation, quality and continuous improvement. In this role, you will provide technical leadership across data platforms, designing and delivering robust data provisioning, warehousing and integration solutions that enable data-driven decision making across the business. You will partner with stakeholders to understand strategic business objectives and translate them into practical, scalable and secure data solutions. As a trusted technical leader, you will take ownership of complex data engineering initiatives, ensuring best practice approaches are applied across architecture, data modelling, platform optimisation, data quality and governance.

Key responsibilities include leading the design and implementation of data pipelines and ETL/ELT frameworks, maintaining and optimising cloud-based data platforms, implementing data security controls, and enabling the re-use of enterprise data assets. You will also collaborate closely with Data Scientists and AI Engineers to operationalise advanced analytics and machine learning solutions.

A strong background in modern data engineering practices is essential. Experience with Azure pipelines, Microsoft Fabric ( or similar data lake environments) and SQL Server is required, while exposure to Python, data governance and master data management will be highly regarded. Experience working with structured and unstructured data, geospatial datasets and IoT data is advantageous.

Beyond technical expertise, you will mentor and coach others, champion best practices, identify opportunities for improvement, and contribute to building data capability across the organisation.

You will thrive in this role if you enjoy:

  • Leading the design and optimisation of enterprise data platforms, pipelines, and warehousing solutions.
  • Applying expertise in data modelling, cloud architectures, and data lifecycle management to solve business challenges.
  • Driving data quality, governance, security, and master data management practices.
  • Collaborating with Data Scientists, AI Engineers, and stakeholders to deliver advanced analytics and AI-enabled solutions.
  • Mentoring and developing others while championing continuous improvement and technical excellence.
