Job summary

Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Te Tai Tokerau is seeking a Lead Administrator for the Retinal Diabetes Eye Screening Service in Northland. The role is permanent part-time (36 hours per week) at Whangārei Hospital to support equitable and timely screening across Te Tai Tokerau.

You will coordinate referrals, bookings, waitlists, clinic schedules, recalls and reporting while ensuring accurate patient information and effective communications with patients, whānau and clinical teams.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in administrative coordination and customer service.
• Strong database management and data entry skills with accurate records.
• Advanced IT skills including Outlook, Word, Teams and Excel.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities with patients and teams.
• Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and commitment to equity.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate referrals, bookings, waitlists and clinic schedules.
• Manage recalls, reporting and patient communications to ensure timely care.
• Maintain accurate patient information and complex databases.
• Collaborate with ophthalmic photographers, nurses, clinicians and primary care teams.
