Job summary

Novotel & Ibis Rotorua Lakeside is seeking a reliable Kitchen Hand to join our busy kitchen team. You’ll help keep the kitchen running smoothly, wash dishes, assist with basic food prep, and support staff during breakfast, lunch and dinner services.

We offer full training, a supportive team environment, and opportunities to develop hospitality skills in a fast-paced setting at our lakeside hotel in Rotorua.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Wash dishes and keep the kitchen clean and organized.
• Assist chefs with basic food preparation.
• Prepare and clean kitchen equipment.
• Ensure dishes, utensils and equipment are available when needed.
• Keep kitchen areas, floors and storage areas clean.
• Assist with deliveries and stock storage.
• Follow food safety, hygiene and safety standards.
• Support kitchen team during breakfast, lunch and dinner services.
• Complete other general kitchen duties as required.

Job Description

As a Kitchen Hand, you'll play an important role in supporting our chefs and wider Food & Beverage team. Your responsibilities will include:

• Washing dishes and keeping the kitchen clean and organised
• Assisting chefs with basic food preparation
• Preparing and cleaning kitchen equipment
• Ensuring dishes, utensils and equipment are available when needed
• Keeping kitchen areas, floors and storage areas clean
• Assisting with deliveries and putting stock away
• Following food safety, hygiene and health & safety standards
• Supporting the kitchen team during busy breakfast, lunch and dinner services
• Completing other general kitchen duties as required

Qualifications

We're looking for someone who:

• Is reliable, punctual and has a great work ethic
• Can work well as part of a team
• Is comfortable working in a busy environment
• Has a positive, can-do attitude
• Takes pride in cleanliness and presentation
• Is physically fit and comfortable being on their feet
• Has good attention to detail
• Is available to work a range hours, with shifts rostered across 7 days a week, including weekends and public holidays as required.
• Previous kitchen or hospitality experience is an advantage, but not essential.Full training will be provided to the right person.
