Job summary

Edgewater Resort in Wanaka seeks a dependable Kitchen Hand to support our back-of-house team and uphold high standards of cleanliness and efficiency. You will help with dishwashing, basic food prep, and general kitchen upkeep in a busy lakefront setting.

Qualifications

• A strong work ethic and reliability.
• Physical fitness to stand and move around kitchen tasks.
• Clear communication with team and supervisors.

• Ability to follow instructions accurately.
• Prior kitchen experience is a bonus but not essential; full training provided.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas and rosters.
• Wash dishes and operate the dishwasher safely.
• Assist with basic food prep (e.g. vegetables).
• Unpack, check, and store incoming supplies.
• Clean floors, vents, and rubbish bins.
• Manage kitchen laundry and follow signage procedures.
• Keep cool rooms and dry store tidy and hygienic.
• Assist with basic bar meals and clearing staff dishes.
• Support wider hotel operations when requested (room service, portering).
• Follow all food safety and hygiene practices as per training.

We are seeking a dependable and motivated Kitchen Hand to support our back-of-house team and ensure our kitchen operates at the highest standards of cleanliness and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas, following cleaning rosters
• Wash dishes and operate dishwasher safely and correctly
• Assist with basic food prep (e.g. vegetable preparation)
• Unpack, check, and store incoming supplies
• Clean floors, vents, and rubbish bins
• Manage kitchen laundry (cloths and rags), using signage procedures
• Keep cool rooms and dry store tidy and hygienic
• Assist with basic bar meals and clearing staff room dishes
• Support wider hotel operations when requested (e.g. room service, portering)
• Follow all food safety and hygiene practices as per training
