Job summary

JobSpace in Christchurch is seeking two enthusiastic kitchen staff to join a busy restaurant team in Canterbury. This full-time position offers a minimum of 30 hours per week with pay ranging from $24 to $30 per hour, depending on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Follow the regular daily, weekly and monthly cleaning rosters and standard methods for deep cleaning of floors, walls, coolers, ovens and operating equipment.
  • Clean kitchens, food preparation areas and sculleries
  • Clean cooking and general utensils used in kitchens and restaurants
  • Clean all dishes, cutlery, pots, pans and equipment
  • Assemble and prepare ingredients for cooking, and prepare salads and sandwiches
  • Packing food and beverage trays for serving
  • Cooking, toasting and heating simple food items
  • Assist with preparation for the day ahead as directed by the chef
  • Maintain the kitchen equipment and report health and safety issues
  • Follow systems and procedures for hygienic food handling
  • Organise the disposal of rubbish
  • Assist with preparing and serving orders if required
  • Clear communication within the kitchen and with floor staff

We are a busy restaurant with a friendly and professional team. Our kitchen can become very active during peak periods, and we are looking for people who enjoy working in a fast-moving, team-oriented environment.

This is a full-time position with a minimum of 30 hours guaranteed per week. The pay rate is $24-$30 per hour, depending on experience.

Job Description:
  • Follow the regular daily, weekly and monthly cleaning rosters and standard methods for deep cleaning of floors, walls, coolers, ovens and operating equipment.
  • Cleaning kitchens, food preparation areas and sculleries
  • Cleaning cooking and general utensils used in kitchens and restaurants
  • Clean all dishes, cutlery, pots, pans and equipment
  • Transferring, weighing and checking supplies and equipment
  • Assembling and preparing ingredients for cooking, and preparing salads, savouries and sandwiches
  • Packing food and beverage trays for serving
  • Cooking, toasting and heating simple food items
  • Removing cooked food from ovens and food warmers
  • Preparation for the day ahead as directed by the chef in charge
  • Control the use of chemicals in the kitchen
  • Assist in receiving and sorting supplies and deliveries
  • Follow systems and procedures in place for hygienic food handling practices.
  • Organise the disposal of rubbish
  • Assist with preparing and serving the orders if required
  • Maintain the kitchen equipment. Report any health and safety issues
  • Clear communication within the kitchen and with the floor staff
