Job summary

EROAD is seeking a Junior Test Automation QA Engineer to join the Devices Team in New Zealand. You will contribute to quality assurance across device firmware, hardware integrations and backend services, performing manual and automated checks while collaborating with developers in a fast-paced agile setup.

You'll build automated test suites in Java or Kotlin, extend test coverage with scripts, and integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• Experience with Java; Kotlin acceptable as substitute for test automation.
• Familiar with serial communication protocols including UART, SPI, I2C, RS-232, RS-485 and USB CDC.
• Comfort working in Linux/Ubuntu environments.
• Scripting in Python and Bash.
• Familiar with CI/CD concepts and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions).

Responsibilities

• Test device firmware, hardware integrations, APIs and backend services through manual and automated checks.
• Collaborate with developers and product stakeholders in a fast-paced agile team.
• Build automated test suites in Java or Kotlin for device and firmware testing.
• Write scripts to extend test coverage and automate validation tasks.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Use Linux/Ubuntu environments daily for device development and validation.
• Validate real-world behaviour on physical devices such as cameras and telematics adapters.
