EROAD Ltd in Auckland is seeking a Junior Test Automation QA Engineer to join the Devices Team. You will test device firmware, hardware integrations, APIs and backend services through manual and automated checks, working directly with cameras and telematics adapters to validate real-world behaviour.

You will build automated test suites in Java or Kotlin, write supporting scripts, and integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines.

Formación

• Experience with Java; Kotlin experience welcomed as supplement or complement for test automation and framework work.
• Understanding of serial communication protocols including UART, SPI, I2C, RS-232, RS-485 and USB CDC.
• Comfort working in Linux/Ubuntu environments with scripting in Python and Bash.
• Exposure to Cucumber or other BDD-based automation frameworks is a bonus.
• Ability to read hardware schematics and technical specifications is a plus.
• Exposure to JUnit, TestNG, Jenkins, GitHub Actions or modern CI/CD practices is an advantage.
• Awareness of Azure and/or AWS and how cloud platforms integrate with connected devices is useful.
• Experience using AI-assisted development or testing tools is a plus.

Responsabilidades

• Test device firmware, hardware integrations, APIs and backend services through a mix of manual and automated checks.
• Work directly with physical devices such as cameras and telematics adapters to validate real-world behaviour.
• Build automated test suites in Java or Kotlin using frameworks suited to device and firmware testing.
• Write supporting scripts to extend test coverage and automate validation tasks.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines so quality checks run continuously.
• Use Linux/Ubuntu environments day to day for device development and validation.
• Collaborate with developers and product stakeholders in a fast-paced agile team, reporting to the Chapter Lead.
