Job summary

Façade Plus Ltd in Christchurch is seeking a Junior/Intermediate CAD drawer/fabricator to convert architectural concepts into shop drawings and panel layouts for premium cladding projects. You will collaborate with estimators, project managers, fabricators and installers to deliver accurate fabrication drawings within deadlines.

Qualifications

• A relevant drafting qualification or 1–3 years of hands-on experience producing technical drawings within a CAD environment.
• Familiarity with exterior cladding systems and materials (e.g., ACP, Aluminium, Steel, HDF).
• Strong spatial awareness and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Prepare fabrication and shop drawings from architectural plans and specifications.
• Create precise 2D and 3D CAD drawings showing panel layouts, profiles, fixings, junctions, flashings, and assembly details.
• Fabricate accurate cladding solutions, generate cutting lists and material take-offs.
• Collaborate with workshop and project managers to ensure practical, accurate solutions.
• Assist with occasional regional site visits for measurements and checks.

Junior/Intermediate CAD drawer/fabricator

Based in our Christchurch office, you will be responsible for turning architectural concepts into clear, buildable shop drawings and panel layouts for high-end cladding projects. You will work right at the centre of our production pipeline-collaborating directly with estimators, project managers, fabricators, and on-site installers to deliver highly accurate fabrication drawings within expected time frames.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare fabrication and shop drawings from architectural plans and specifications
• Create precise 2D and 3D CAD drawings showing panel layouts, profiles, fixings, junctions, flashings, and assembly details
• Fabricate accurate cladding solutions, generate accurate cutting lists and material take-offs
• Fabricate and deliver high-quality technical drawings and assist with fabricating architectural cladding solutions efficiently within expected project time frames to keep manufacturing on schedule
• Work closely with the workshop and project managers to ensure solutions are highly practical and accurate
• Assist with occasional regional site visits for physical measurements and project checks

About you

• A relevant drafting qualification or 1-3 years of hands-on experience producing technical drawings within a CAD environment
• CNC machine experience would be a benefit
• A proven ability to manage your workload effectively, prioritize tasks, and meet engineering or manufacturing deadlines
• Familiarity with—or a strong eagerness to learn—exterior cladding systems and materials (e.g., Aluminium, Steel, ACM, High-Density Fibre Cement)
• Meticulous accuracy and strong spatial awareness
• Good interpersonal skills to coordinate smoothly between the design office and the shop floor
• A Full NZ Driver's License is required for site travel using company pool vehicles
• Competitive Salary: $65,000 - $80,000 per annum, negotiated based on your experience level
