Job summary

KPMG New Zealand is looking for a Junior Accountant to join the Private Enterprise team in Tauranga. This is an entry-level, but a supported, long-term pathway where you grow your skills while studying toward Chartered Accountant status.

You will collaborate with the Private Enterprise compliance team, assist with annual accounts, tax returns, and monthly management work, and gain hands-on experience with accounting software.

Qualifications

• Recent high school graduate or first-year student pursuing Accounting.
• CAANZ CA Fundamentals pathway with plan to qualify as Chartered Accountant.
• Interest in working with SMEs across New Zealand.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Private Enterprise compliance team to support New Zealand’s privately-owned businesses in meeting their goals.
• Assist in preparing annual accounts and tax returns, or monthly management work, initially focusing on smaller and more straightforward clients.
• Respond to client queries and support the compliance team in managing client relationships concerning income tax, GST, and other indirect taxes.
• Attend in-house or external training to enhance knowledge of professional accounting software.
• Apply learning to practical challenges and gain hands-on experience.
• Provide insightful financial solutions and advice to help businesses thrive.
