Job summary

Downer is seeking an experienced ITS Operations Manager to lead the delivery of Intelligent Transport Systems projects in the Wellington region. You will guide project teams, partner with clients and contractors, and shape regional strategies for safe, efficient, and high-quality outcomes across multiple contracts.

We're looking for an experienced ITS Operations Manager to join our Wellington team and lead the successful delivery of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) projects and contracts across the region. Reporting to the Wellington ITS Regional Manager, you'll oversee operational performance, resource management, commercial outcomes, and team leadership while championing Downer's Zero Harm culture.

Working closely with Project Managers, Supervisors, Electricians, Apprentices, clients, and key stakeholders, you'll play a pivotal role in driving business growth, building strong relationships, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. This is a highly influential leadership position where you'll help shape both the strategic direction and day to day success of the Wellington ITS business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the successful delivery of ITS projects and contracts across the Wellington regions
  
• Support the development and execution of regional business plans and operational strategies
  
• Build and maintain a high performance culture focused on accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement
  
• Ensure appropriate workforce planning is in place to meet project and contract demands
  
• Drive profitability, cash flow performance, productivity, and commercial outcomes
  
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients, suppliers, consultants, and key stakeholders
  
• Champion Downe's Zero Harm culture through visible leadership and personal commitment
  

You'll be a proven operational leader with a strong background in project delivery, resource management, and people leadership. You're commercially astute, solutions focused, and capable of balancing strategic objectives with operational demands.

You enjoy developing teams, building relationships, and creating a culture where people can perform at their best.

You'll bring:

• Tertiary qualification or equivalent industry experience in electrical, engineering, technology, or a related field
• Experience delivering projects within infrastructure, electrical, transport technology, construction, or related industries
• Demonstrated success leading operational teams and complex project environments
• Exceptional leadership skills with a genuine commitment to safety and people development
• Strong commercial and financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and performance management
• Experience managing multiple stakeholders and building strong client relationships
• The ability to influence, motivate, and bring people together to achieve shared outcomes
