Job summary

Hawk Technology in Hastings, Hawke's Bay, is seeking an inventory stores assistant to receive stock, check deliveries, and place items in approved locations. You will learn from the Inventory Controller and support cycle counts, picking and stores processes while developing broader inventory-control skills.

The role requires attention to detail, organisation, and basic computer skills with a willingness to learn Business Central and related systems. A forklift licence is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Experience in stores, warehousing, inventory, parts, manufacturing or a practical production environment is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and confidence checking part numbers, quantities and documentation.
• Good organisation and the ability to balance receiving, put-away, picking and urgent production needs.
• Basic computer skills and willingness to learn Business Central and other inventory systems.
• Clear communication and a cooperative approach when working across Stores, Purchasing, Supply Chain and Assembly.
• Reliable, methodical and willing to follow agreed controls rather than taking shortcuts.
• Ability to safely undertake physical stores work, including lifting and handling within safe limits.
• A current forklift licence is advantageous; training may be provided where appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Receive incoming components, materials, consumables and other stock safely and promptly.
• Check deliveries against purchase orders, packing slips and required quantities, part numbers and condition.
• Identify shortages, over-supplies, damage, incorrect items or paperwork discrepancies and raise them promptly with the Inventory Controller or Purchasing team.
• Complete or support receipting in Business Central and ensure goods are not released for use before required checks and transactions are complete.
• Label and put stock away in the correct bin, rack or designated location so it can be found and issued efficiently.
• Pick and prepare parts accurately from approved pick lists, bills of materials and production requirements.
• Work closely with Assembly Line Coordinators so parts for current builds are available and upcoming builds are picked and staged in advance.
• Record stock receipts, issues, transfers, returns and adjustments accurately and in accordance with agreed processes and authority levels.
• Assist with cycle counts, stocktakes, reconciliations and investigation of inventory discrepancies.
• Follow safe manual-handling, lifting, forklift, racking and stores procedures at all times.
