Job summary

Christchurch Engine Centre, a joint venture involving Pratt & Whitney and Air New Zealand, offers a summer undergraduate work experience for two University of Canterbury engineering students in 2026. SUMMER UNDERGRADUATE WORK EXPERIENCE

Most summers CHCEC has offered places to University of Canterbury Engineering under-graduates looking to meet the work experience requirements of their degrees. This work is focused on the professional element of the requirement. This year we are looking for two under-graduates to assist with a range of engineering tasks.

Responsibilities:

• Entering technical work instructions into our electronic aviation maintenance execution system (Solumina)
• Aviation tooling design technical drawing using Alibre or Siemens NX software.
• Tooling and product measurement data analysis using Statistical Process Control.
• Key Product Characteristic Database set up and display.
• PW1100G Test Cell capability project support activities.

Requirements:

• Have a keen interest in aviation
• Are familiar with database concepts
• Are willing to learn new skills to be able to support the engineering project activities assigned
• Have excellent listening, communication and documentation skills
• Have the ability to quickly integrate and operate within an established team
• Be working towards an engineering bachelor degree
