Job summary

Christchurch Engine Centre is seeking 2nd/3rd year Data Science students for a Summer Internship – Data Analyst. Join engineering, customer services and materials teams from Oct 2026 to Feb 2027 to analyze data and support engine maintenance processes.

You will work with SAP, Solumina, Excel, and data platforms, gaining hands-on experience with Power BI, SQL, Python, and data lake technologies while collaborating with a cross-functional team.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Bachelor of Data Science or similar degree.
• Familiar with data models and database systems.
• Willing to learn new skills and support project activities.
• Independent, self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Legally entitled to work in New Zealand and pass pre-employment checks.

Responsibilities

• Assist teams with data analysis and representation to optimize engine maintenance.
• Leverage SAP, Solumina, Excel, and web-based data sets.
• Provide digital integration assistance with new technologies.

Summer Intern - Data Analyst

We are seeking 2nd or 3rd year Data Science Students to work within our Engineering, Customer Services and Materials areas over Summer (October 2026 to mid-February 2027).

Responsibilities

• Using data analysis, manipulation and representation to assist Teams to efficiently manage the engine maintenance processes
• Leveraging existing data sets within enterprise platforms such as SAP, Solumina, excel and web based.
• Provide digital integration assistance with new technologies.
• Tool utilization may include advanced MSExcel, Data Bricks (enterprise data lake), knowledge and experience in PowerBI & coding languages such as SQL, Python, Java etc.
• Provide coaching and general digital knowledge building to team members.
• Partner with Internal DT and Process Engineering to ensure solution alignment to core business tools.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Data Science undergraduate program or similar
• Are familiar with data models and database systems.
• Are willing to learn new skills to be able to support the project activities assigned.
• Independent & Self Motivated Worker
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and think outside the box
• Results focused and able to communicate well with a broad range of internal and external customers.
• Have excellent listening, communication, and documentation skills.
• Have the ability to quickly integrate and operate within an established team.
• Be legally entitled to work in New Zealand.
• Must be able / willing to pass a pre-employment medical assessment and drug & alcohol test.
