Job summary

Christchurch Engine Centre, a joint venture between Pratt & Whitney and Air New Zealand, seeks an engineering student for a six-month Summer Work Experience to support repair operations. You will help design tooling, review legacy tooling, and assist with new engine type introduction projects under experienced leadership.

This internship offers hands-on exposure in an aerospace maintenance environment with training and development opportunities at RTX Christchurch.

Internship – Repair Operations Summer Work Experience

We are seeking an engineering student in need of industry experience to support internal repair operations team during the summer of 2026-27. Fixed term ~ 6 months. Working under the guidance of repair operations leadership, the role will be in support of the following project work.

Tooling

• Support the design of safer more efficient tooling under the guidance of end users.
• Presenting design justifications through tooling engineers for approval process.
• Review and iterate legacy tooling for process improvements.
• Loom board designs for electrical harness repairs.
• Smart mask designs for thermal spray operations.

New Engine Type Introduction Support

• Working with Operations, Eng & EHS teams to support project work on the following:
• Review technical requirements for new engine type repairs (required chemicals and consumable materials onboarding)
• Plant and facility requirements
• Tooling – iterate/ improve
• Product flow – Tooling to facilitate the movement of larger parts.
