Job summary

Architectural Envelopes Limited in Otago, Queenstown Lakes District, is seeking a motivated Welder Engineer Fabricator to deliver high-end welding and fabrication projects in our sheet metal workshop and on site. The role requires at least 3 years welding/engineering experience, reading drawings, and the ability to work in a team or autonomously.

We offer training and a competitive hourly rate of NZD 37–39.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years welding/engineering experience.
• Tertiary welding/engineering qualification preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings.
• Ability to work in a team and autonomously.

Responsibilities

• Weld & fabricate a variety of steel products from drawings using mild steel, aluminium and sheetmetal.
• Handle, cut, and assemble steel, aluminium, copper, brass and other roofing & cladding materials.
• Experience in aluminium joinery fabrication preferred.
• Be an integral part of the team delivering quality work and meeting deadlines.

Architectural Envelopes offers distinctive roofing, exterior cladding, and interior finishes. Our products are used in architectural homes, commercial buildings and iconic buildings, designed to last for over 100 years.

About the Role:

We are offering a permanent full time position 30-40 hours per week to a Metal Welder/Engineer. You will be responsible for delivering high end architecturally designed welding and manufacturing projects in our sheetmetal workshop and on site in the Queenstown Lakes District, Otago region.

What you will be doing:

• Welding & fabricating a variety of steel products using mild metal, aluminium and sheetmetal from drawings
• Handling, cutting, and assembling steel, aluminium, copper, brass and other roofing & cladding materials
• Experience in aluminium joinery fabrication, ideally with a relevant trade qualification
• An integral part of the larger team producing quality work and ensuring good workflow to meet deadlines

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

• Minimum 3 years demonstrable experience in welding and engineering.
• A tertiary qualification in welding or engineering would be preferred
• Ability to work as part of a team and autonomously
• Excellent knowledge of reading and interpreting drawings
• Exceptional communication and organisational skills
• Work un-supervised, motivated and self-dependent
• Review procedures, processes and documentation
• Measure, cut and weld according to specifications, drawings and blueprints
• Maintain a clean and orderly work space
• Perform other related duties as assigned
• Strong organisational and administrative skills
• Possess analytical and problem-solving skills
