Job summary

Proelectrical is recruiting an Industrial Electrician for our Hawke's Bay operation in Napier. You will work on industrial controls, automation and site-based testing on specialist projects, with a focus on VSDs, RTUs and protection systems.

Join a growing team delivering electrical solutions across industrial and infrastructure sectors, with onsite work, a steady 40-hour week and on-call roster. Relocation support may be available for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• NZ registration as an Electrician.
• Solid diagnostic experience with industrial electrical equipment.
• Experience with industrial control systems, VSDs and sensors.
• Confident reading from electrical schematics and technical drawings.
• Full, current NZ drivers licence.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair industrial electrical equipment, machinery and systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults, especially on three-phase motors and protection systems.
• Install and maintain industrial control systems (PLCs, VSDs, RTUs) and related automation equipment.
• Configure sensors for process controls and monitoring.
• Work from CAD designs and electrical schematics; maintain as-built documentation.
• Carry out commissioning, system testing and performance validation.
• Work safely and to regulatory requirements on-site with the team.

We're after a skilled, registered electrician who wants to build their career in industrial controls — VSDs, RTUs, protection systems and process automation — not just general maintenance, and grow with a business that's actively investing in this side of the trade.

What You'll Do

• Install, maintain and repair industrial electrical equipment, machinery and systems

• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults, particularly on three-phase motors and protection systems

• Install and maintain industrial control systems, including PLCs, VSDs, RTUs and associated automation equipment

• Configure flow and pressure sensors for industrial process controls and monitoring

• Work from CAD designs and electrical schematics, and help maintain accurate as-built documentation

• Carry out commissioning — system testing and performance validation

• Work safely and to a high standard, meeting all regulatory requirements

• Work closely with the team, supervisors and clients on-site

• Assist the wider team across other areas of the business as required

What We're Looking For

You’ll need:

• Current NZ registration as an Electrician

• Solid diagnostic experience with industrial electrical equipment

• Experience with industrial control systems, VSDs and sensors

• Confidence reading and working from electrical schematics and technical drawings

• A full, current NZ driver's licence

• The ability to work independently, manage your own time and take ownership of your work

• A genuine commitment to safety and quality workmanship

Nice to have:

• Experience with equipment safety systems and standards

• Experience with industrial networking systems

• Power quality or data logging experience

• Underground utility locating or cable fault finding experience

• Experience working on council or infrastructure sites

• A relevant trade or engineering qualification beyond base registration
