Job summary

Swarm Intelligence, a Christchurch-based industrial electrical and automation company, is seeking an experienced Electrical Tradesperson to support installations, upgrades and commissioning across diverse industrial customers.

You will work on motors, VSDs, control panels, sensors and instrumentation, reading schematics, and testing machine safety systems, with opportunities to develop expertise and contribute to team projects. A NZ licence and registration are required.

Qualifications

• NZ Electrical Registration and a current Practising Licence.
• Industrial electrical experience.
• Strong electrical fault-finding skills.
• Experience with motors, VSDs and control systems.
• Ability to read electrical drawings.
• Practical and methodical troubleshooting approach.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Full NZ driver’s licence.
• PLC-controlled machinery, instrumentation or machine safety systems experience is a plus.

Job description

Your work will include industrial electrical installations and upgrades, control panel and switchboard installation and modifications, motors, VSDs and motor control systems, industrial sensors and instrumentation, machinery and process electrical work, electrical fault finding and breakdown support, testing and commissioning, reading and working from electrical schematics, installation and testing of machine safety equipment, working alongside electrical technicians and automation engineers, and site work across a range of industrial customers.

About you

NZ Electrical Registration and a current Practising Licence

A full NZ driver's licence

Experience with PLC-controlled machinery, instrumentation or machine safety systems would be an advantage, but PLC programming is not required for this role
