Our role is to support the people who lead and shape New Zealand's democracy, with Parliamentary Service and Office of the Clerk. HR is a core function supporting Parliament, with our highly motivated HR team comprising Partnering & Advisory, Payroll, Talent, Organisational Development, Systems and Data Reporting.

Although you will be part of the Partnering & Advisory team who provide HR advice under the "One Team" HR approach, you will also support the wider HR function. These values support our vision of having the best people supporting the best Parliament in the world.

Mō te tūnga | About the role:

We're looking for three HR Coordinators on fixed-term contracts from October 2026 to 31 May 2027 to help support Parliament through the General Election transition period.

Whether you're early in your HR career or looking to broaden your experience, this role offers a rare opportunity to work at the centre of New Zealand's democratic process during one of Parliament's most significant periods of change

You’ll gain exposure to recruitment, employee lifecycle activities, employment administration, customer service, people systems and a wide range of HR processes while working alongside experienced HR professionals.

You’ll join a supportive and experienced team that values collaboration, learning and helping each other succeed. We work closely together, celebrate our achievements, and take pride in providing excellent service to the people who support New Zealand's Parliament.

This is a unique opportunity to gain exposure to a broad range of HR activities while contributing directly to the functioning of New Zealand's democracy during a significant period of change.

Tō kete | What you will bring to the role:

We're looking for people who thrive in a fast-paced, high-trust environment and ideally bring:

  • Experience providing administrative support in an HR, customer service, or similar professional environment, together with an interest in developing your knowledge of employment and people-related processes.
  • A passion for human resources and a desire for continuous improvement.
  • The ability to self-manage and work collaboratively to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), MS Teams, and service ticketing systems such as ServiceNow.
  • Strong customer service, communication and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage a changing workload with multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to handle confidential information with professionalism.
Mō mātou | About us:

You’ll be a key member of an experienced and collaborative HR team and will be ideally positioned to grow your HR experience while gaining exposure to one of New Zealand's most unique and fast-paced working environments.

We offer a range of benefits including 5 weeks annual leave (pro rata), access to an on-site gym and pool, learning and development opportunities, and flexible working arrangements where operationally appropriate.

Our ever-changing environment allows us to be part of the action at Parliament, including attending Question Time, Select Committees and other key parliamentary events. We offer a thorough induction, ongoing development, and excellent working conditions.

The salary range for this role is $66,097 - $72,754 per annum. Appointments will be based on skills and experience (please note, the full salary range extends beyond this to allow for progression).
