Job summary

Healthcare by Douglas (HbD) in Auckland is seeking an experienced HR Business Partner for a 4‑month fixed‑term contract. You will support roll‑out of Employment Hero, advise leaders, and manage employee relations, recruitment, performance and health and safety across about 80 NZ staff.

The role requires independence, proactive problem solving and a hands‑on approach to embedding best People practices in a growing business.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in an HR Business Partner, People Partner or generalist HR role.
• Strong capability across ER, recruitment, performance and H&S.
• Experience supporting an HRIS implementation, ideally Employment Hero.
• Tertiary qualification in Human Resources or related field.

Responsibilities

• Support rollout of Employment Hero and embed it into People processes.
• Provide day-to-day People advice and coaching to leaders.
• Manage employee relations matters.
• Run end-to-end recruitment for NZ roles and oversee onboarding/induction.

Job description

We’re looking for an experienced HR Business Partner to join Healthcare by Douglas (HbD) on a 4-month fixed-term contract.

A key focus of this role is helping roll out Employment Hero, our new HRIS, and making sure it becomes part of how our leaders and teams work every day. Alongside this, you’ll support our leaders and around 80 employees in New Zealand, giving practical, hands‑on advice across employee relations, recruitment, performance and health and safety. This is a role for someone who can hit the ground running, work independently and make a real difference from day one.

What you’ll do

• Support the rollout of Employment Hero, helping leaders and employees adopt the system and embedding it into everyday People processes
• Partner with leaders to provide day‑to‑day People advice and coaching that builds clarity, trust and confidence
• Manage employee relations matters
• Run end‑to‑end recruitment for NZ roles and oversee onboarding and induction
• Support leaders through performance and remuneration cycles, including goal setting and calibration
• Act as a key health and safety support for the NZ business and help leaders meet their obligations
• Ensure People practices are compliant and fit for purpose

What you’ll bring

• Availability to start late Nov/early Dec for a 4-month fixed-term engagement
• 8+ years’ experience in an HR Business Partner, People Partner or generalist HR role
• Strong, practical capability across ER, recruitment, performance and H&S
• Experience supporting an HRIS implementation, ideally Employment Hero, is an advantage
• A tertiary qualification in Human Resources or a related field
• Confidence working independently, with strong judgement and excellent written and verbal communication
