Job summary

Summerset is seeking a Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant for its Avonhead village team. The role focuses on creating a clean, uplifting, and homelike environment for residents and their whānau. You will perform cleaning across rooms, laundry, and communal areas, while supporting infection control and safety procedures.

This casual role offers shifts on an as-needed basis, with short-notice opportunities. Prior housekeeping experience in healthcare or hospitality is preferred, but full training is

• Experience in housekeeping ideally in healthcare or hospitality.
• Take pride in your work and care about the small details.
• Are physically fit and comfortable working on your feet.
• Have a genuine interest in aged care (no experience necessary — full training provided)

Responsibilities

• Ensure high-quality cleaning across resident rooms, bathrooms, communal areas, laundry, and kitchen facilities.
• Launder, fold and return residents’ clothing and linens with care.
• Label, mend and maintain residents' personal laundry items.
• Support infection control measures and health and safety procedures.
• Build friendly, respectful relationships with residents and understand their needs.

Job Description:

We’re looking for a hardworking, caring Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant to join our warm and welcoming Avonhead"village team. This role is all about making sure our residents feel comfortable, safe, and truly at home.

As a Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant, you'll be a key part of creating a clean, uplifting, and homelike environment for residents, their whānau, and fellow team members.

Your day-to-day activities will include:

• Ensuring high-quality cleaning across resident rooms, bathrooms, communal areas, laundry, and kitchen facilities
• Laundering, folding and returning residents’ clothing and linens with care and attention
• Labelling, mending and maintaining residents' personal laundry items
• Supporting infection control measures and health and safety procedures
• Building friendly, respectful relationships with residents and understanding their unique needs

This is a casual role, working on an as-needed basis, with shifts often offered at short notice.
