Job summary

Summerset is seeking a friendly Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant for our Avonhead village. You’ll help create a clean, homelike environment for residents, their whānau, and our team, taking pride in careful cleaning, laundry, and personal item care.

The role is casual and on an as-needed basis, with shifts offered at short notice. Training is provided, and you’ll work closely within a supportive team that values care and respect for residents.

Qualifications

• Experience in housekeeping, ideally in healthcare or hospitality.
• Take pride in your work and care about the small details.
• Physically fit and comfortable working on your feet.
• Genuine interest in aged care (no experience necessary - training provided).

Responsibilities

• Ensuring high-quality cleaning across resident rooms, bathrooms, communal areas, laundry, and kitchen facilities.
• Laundering, folding and returning residents’ clothing and linens with care.
• Labelling, mending and maintaining residents' personal laundry items.
• Supporting infection control measures and health and safety procedures.
• Building friendly, respectful relationships with residents and understanding their needs.

Job Description

We’re looking for a hardworking, caring Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant to join our warm and welcoming Avonheadvillage team. This role is all about making sure our residents feel comfortable, safe, and truly at home.

As a Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant, you'll be a key part of creating a clean, uplifting, and homelike environment for residents, their whānau, and fellow team members.

Your day-to-day activities will include:

• Ensuring high-quality cleaning across resident rooms, bathrooms, communal areas, laundry, and kitchen facilities
• Laundering, folding and returning residents’ clothing and linens with care and attention
• Labelling, mending and maintaining residents' personal laundry items
• Supporting infection control measures and health and safety procedures
• Building friendly, respectful relationships with residents and understanding their unique needs

This is a casual role, working on an as-needed basis, with shifts often offered at short notice.
