Job summary

Hilton Auckland seeks an Engineering Supervisor to support the Chief Engineer and keep hotel systems, plant and equipment running smoothly. You will lead maintenance operations, coordinate the team, and supervise external contractors to deliver reliable service.

The role requires hands-on trade knowledge, a strong safety culture, and a proven record in a 5-star hotel. You’ll manage budgets, schedules, and compliance while upholding Hilton’s hospitality standards.

Qualifications

• HVAC, electrical, or plumbing/gas fitter trade qualification is advantageous.
• Sound general engineering knowledge and trade background.
• At least 5 years in a Service Technician role or similar in a 5-star hotel.

Responsibilities

• Ensure facility safety and compliance: Support the maintenance of the hotel’s buildings, mechanical systems, electrical systems, HVAC, and life safety systems, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
• Supervise maintenance operations: Assign and oversee daily maintenance tasks, ensuring thorough documentation of completed work in the property management system
• Supervise and develop the team: Train, schedule, and supervise maintenance team members, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality work and performance
• Oversee contractor work: Supervise external contractors and inspect completed work for quality and compliance
• Respond to service requests: Ensure maintenance requests, guest concerns, and emergency situations are addressed promptly and efficiently
• Equipment Maintenance & Efficiency: Repair and maintain all hotel systems and equipment, ensuring efficiency and informing management about deficiencies and stock control needs.
• Cost Management: Adhere to departmental operating expenses, evaluate products for reuse, monitor stock levels, and ensure the operation runs according to budgets and profit margins.
