Job summary

East Tamaki Rubani Holdings Limited is seeking a Class 5 Truck Driver to join our container and freight operations in Auckland. You will collect and deliver containers between port, depot and customer sites, and operate swinglift equipment safely.

We require at least two years in transport or logistics, a current NZ Class 5 license (or eligible for upgrade), and a dangerous goods endorsement or the ability to obtain one before starting.

Qualifications

• Two years' experience in transport, freight, logistics or warehouse operations.
• Valid NZ Class 5 driver licence (or Class 4 with ability to obtain Class 5 before starting).
• Dangerous goods (D) endorsement, or ability to obtain before starting.
• Good understanding of NZ road rules, heavy vehicle safety, load restraint, vehicle checks, fatigue and work-time/rest-time rules.
• Ability to organise allocated work, follow freight instructions, check documents and maintain records.
• Reliable, punctual with early starts and floating shifts Mon-Sat; travel to Auckland base and locations.
• Physical ability to assist with loading, unloading, securing and handling goods.

Class 5 Truck Driver – Container and Freight Operations

Employer: East Tamaki Rubani Holdings Limited

Location: Auckland (Upper North Island)

Contract: Permanent, full‑time

Hours: Monday to Saturday, floating shifts between 4:30 am to 3:30 pm, 32–40 hours per week.

Pay: $52.50 per hour for all hours worked.

• Collect and deliver containers and other freight between port, depot and customer sites.
• Operate the swinglift equipment safely to load and unload containers.
• Complete vehicle and equipment checks, secure loads, comply with road and work‑time requirements, and report defects, incidents and hazards.
• Transport dangerous goods as required.
• Coordinate collection and delivery arrangements and keep customers informed of arrival times and delays.
• Check freight documents, maintain accurate run sheets and proof of delivery, record waiting time, and pass complete job records to accounts for invoicing.

Requirements:

• At least two years’ relevant work experience in transport, freight, logistics or warehouse operations.
• Current full New Zealand Class 5 driver licence, or Class 4 licence with ability to obtain Class 5 licence before starting.
• Current dangerous goods (D) endorsement, or ability to obtain it before starting.
• Good understanding of New Zealand road rules, heavy vehicle safety, load restraint, vehicle checks, fatigue management and work‑time and rest‑time requirements.
• Ability to organise allocated work, follow freight instructions, check documents and maintain accurate operational records.
• Reliability, punctuality and availability for early starts and floating shifts between Monday and Saturday, with the ability to travel to and from the Auckland work base and allocated work locations.
• Physical ability to assist with loading, unloading, securing and handling goods.

Rubani will provide induction in port and booking arrangements, freight documentation, reporting procedures and company systems. Appropriate training and demonstrated competence in safe operation of the assigned vehicle and swinglift equipment are required before unsupervised operation.
