Qualifications

  • Experience working with school-aged children.
  • Experience coordinating or supervising an OSCAR/school holiday programme.

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.

  • Ability to problem solve and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Creative, enthusiastic and adaptable.
  • Current Police Vetting clearance (or willingness to obtain).
  • Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain or renew).
  • Eligibility to work in New Zealand.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a varied and engaging holiday programme for children aged 5-13 with diverse interests and backgrounds.
  • Submit the programme to the House Manager for approval at least five weeks prior to each holiday programme.
  • Book activities and facilitators once programme approval has been received.
  • Purchase programme resources and materials within the approved budget.
  • Prepare staff rosters and confirm daily staffing requirements.
  • Coordinate and lead the daily programme, including planned activities and child-led opportunities.
  • Maintain a safe environment for children, staff and visitors at all times.
  • Ensure children are appropriately supervised in accordance with the OSCAR Programme Supervision Manual.
  • Build positive relationships with children, parents, caregivers and staff.
  • Oversee recruitment for Holiday Programme staff, including advertising, shortlisting, interviewing, reference checking and onboarding.

Devonport Community House Inc - Devonport, North Island

The Holiday Programme Manager is responsible for the planning, coordination and delivery of the Devonport Community House OSCAR Holiday Programme. The role ensures the programme provides a safe, inclusive, affordable and engaging environment where children aged 5-13 years can learn, play and participate in a wide range of high-quality activities. Working closely with the Community House Manager, the Holiday Programme Manager oversees the day-to-day operation of the programme, leads and supports programme staff, ensures compliance with all Ministry of Social Development OSCAR standards and licensing requirements, and fosters a positive, welcoming and child-centred experience for children and their whānau.

About you
