Job summary

Ilam OSCAR is seeking an Assistant Supervisor to support the day-to-day running of the programme for Ilam School students. Responsibilities include ensuring safety, engagement, and inclusive activities for children, plus running holiday programmes.

The role requires experience with primary school-aged children, strong communication, and the ability to supervise staff. First Aid certification is preferred, with a willingness to train, and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.

  • Holds a current First Aid certificate, or is willing to undertake paid First Aid training.
  • Is reliable, responsible, and able to work as part of a team.
  • Is able to travel to off-site Holiday Programme activities, when required.
  • Has an understanding of and commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, or a willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a qualified First Aider, responding appropriately to first aid needs and supporting the safety and wellbeing of children and staff.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment for children and staff.

Ilam OSCAR is looking to recruit an Assistant Supervisor to support the Supervisor with the day-to-day running of the programme.

The successful candidate will help ensure children are safe, engaged, and well-supported in a positive, inclusive and fun environment. The role will involve supporting the delivery of high-quality before- and after-school care for Ilam School students, as well as helping to run engaging school holiday programmes.

Hours of operation:

Ilam OSCAR operatesMonday to Friday from 7.15am to 8.30am and 3.00pm to 6.00pm during Ilam School's term-times.

OurHoliday Programme operates Monday to Friday from 7.15am to 6.00pm during Ilam School's school holidays.

Hours of work:

We can guarantee a minimum of:

4.5 hours per week during term time– one morning shift and one afternoon shift.

10 hours per week during Holiday Programmes– ideally worked as approximately two hours per day around lunchtime.

Flexibility to work across these operating hours is an essential requirement of the role. While the minimum hours are guaranteed, the successful applicant will need to be available for a combination of morning, afternoon, and holiday programme shifts, including providing additional support during the Supervisor’s planned leave or unexpected absence, as required to meet the needs of the programme.

$24.15 per hour, with a pay review following the 3-month trial period.
