Job summary

Rocket Lab in Auckland is seeking a motivated Ground Systems Engineering Intern in Instrumentation & Control to join the HITL team. You will help maintain and build control systems enabling Rocket Lab Ground Systems to test and launch Electron and Neutron vehicles, contributing to fast-paced development and simulation-driven validation.

You will implement HITL tests, develop tools under guidance from a senior engineer, and collaborate across engineering disciplines to improve reliability.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechatronics or comparable discipline.
  • Knowledge of at least two programming languages.
  • Ability to work in fast paced, self-driven environment.
  • Ability to find software bugs fast, using multiple approaches in parallel.
  • Understanding of simulation and hardware in the loop systems.
  • Passion for aerospace, space technology, and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Own smaller software development projects within the HITL team.
  • Collaborate with engineers across multiple departments.
  • Follow style and function guidance of system architect during sprints.
  • Develop basic models for fault scenarios in HITL tests.
  • Automate testing and failure search.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute innovative ideas.
