Job summary

Rocket Lab is seeking a Ground Systems Mechanical Engineering Intern for the Neutron program in New Zealand. You will support on real space tech projects, taking ownership of Neutron payload handling equipment and collaborating with experienced engineers.

You will develop CAD skills, perform analyses, and participate in testing, with mentorship and opportunities to contribute across sub-systems and missions to space.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.
  • Familiarity with Siemens NX and SolidWorks.
  • Proficient CAD/CAM capabilities and data analysis mindset.
  • Strong communication and teamwork in a technical context.

Responsibilities

  • Manage supplier relationships and update project schedules.
  • Implement design changes and improvements through calculations and CAD.
  • Supervise construction and verify assembly.
  • Integrate systems on the test rig and conduct hydraulic and mechanical testing.
  • Perform data analysis and compile test reports.
  • Gain a 360° view from design to testing and learning from engineers.
