Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldier Memorial Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Technician / Trainee - Histology to provide technical support in the Histology Laboratory, assisting with specimen preparation and processing to support diagnostic services.

You will follow established protocols, maintain equipment and supplies, work with pathologists and lab staff, and participate in training and continuous improvement to uphold safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand (or ability to obtain).
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to follow protocols and procedures accurately.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• A positive, problem solving attitude.
• Interest in laboratory science and continuous learning.
• Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equitable health outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and processing of specimens to support diagnostic services.
• Carry out laboratory procedures in line with established protocols and quality standards.
• Support specimen processing, maintain laboratory equipment, and manage supplies.
• Ensure work meets clinical, safety and organisational requirements.
• Work closely with pathologists, scientists and laboratory staff to support the service.
