Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician for the Histology Department at Middlemore Hospital. The role is full-time and permanent, Monday–Friday, within a busy laboratory that supports teaching and a wide range of histology services.

You will join a multidisciplinary team including technicians, scientists and Consultants, ensuring quality and timely processing of specimens in a high-standard lab environment.

Qualifications

• Current registration and APC as Medical Laboratory Technician with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand.
• Histology experience preferred.
• Solid understanding of ISO15189 standards and quality-improvement processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Positive attitude and genuine passion for the Histology discipline.

Responsibilities

• Work in all areas of the histology laboratory alongside a dedicated team to deliver high-quality Histology service.
• Collaborate with technicians, scientists, technical specialists, registrars and Consultants to support teaching and service.
• Maintain accuracy and timeliness in histology reporting and specimen handling.
• Adhere to quality, safety and ISO15189 requirements in all tasks.
