Job summary

Qube Ports NZ is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair heavy off‑road machinery at Tauranga Port. This 24/7 operation relies on the team to keep loaders, forklifts, and related assets running around the clock.

The role is full-time, with a 4 on, 4 off PM roster (1600-0400 hours). Applicants must have NZQA Automotive Heavy Engineering Level 4 and proven heavy-vehicle experience, plus strong hydraulic knowledge. Pre-employment medical, drug, ACC, and MOJ checks are required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience working on heavy vehicles and machinery.
• Solid understanding of hydraulic systems.
• Able to work independently and as part of a small team.

Responsibilities

• Replacing or repairing machinery components.
• Servicing machinery.
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults in heavy loaders, excavators, forklifts & trucks.
• Repairs to attachments, grapples & log heads.

About the Role

We’re seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair a wide range of heavy off‑road machinery, including loaders, material handlers, terminal tractors and forklifts. As a 24/7 operation, we rely on our mechanical team to keep our stevedoring and logistics equipment running around the clock.

Location:

Tauranga Port

Status:

Up to $46.00 p/h Full-time, 4 on, 4 off working PM 1600-0400 hours

Specific Responsibilities:

• Replacing / repairing machinery components


• Servicing machinery


• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults in a variety of heavy loaders, excavators, forklifts & trucks


• Repairs to attachments, grapples & log heads

Who we're after:

• NZQA Automotive Heavy Engineering Level 4 qualification (or overseas equivalent) required


• Proven experience working on heavy vehicles and machinery


• Solid understanding of hydraulic systems


• Able to work independently and as part of a small team


• Bring a positive, can-do attitude to the role
