Job summary

Oceania Group's Franklin Village in Pukekohe, New Zealand is seeking a dedicated Healthcare Assistant on a fixed-term contract. You will support residents to live with dignity, comfort and independence, delivering person-centred care in a compassionate team environment.

The role requires prior caregiving experience, ideally with dementia care, and a patient, respectful approach. You will work with Registered Nurses to ensure high-quality care and maintain safety and wellbeing for residents.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience in caregiving or aged care.
• Experience with people living with Dementia is desirable.
• Compassion, patience and respect in caring for older adults.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team.
• Commitment to safety, dignity and resident-centred care.
• Flexibility for a rotating roster including weekends and nights.

Responsibilities

What you’ll be doing

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will support residents to live with comfort, dignity, and independence, delivering care that is respectful, safe, and genuinely person-centred. You’ll focus on building trusting relationships and creating a calm, supportive environment where residents feel listened to, valued, and cared for. You will:

• Provide personal care in a way that maintains dignity, privacy, and comfort

• Support residents with daily activities such as hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and hydration

• Observe and respond to residents’ physical and emotional needs, escalating concerns appropriately

• Build warm, respectful relationships with residents and their families/whānau

• Create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment that promotes wellbeing and independence

• Follow individual care plans and work closely with Registered Nurses to ensure consistent, high-quality care

• Communicate clearly and compassionately with residents, families, and your wider team

• Take responsibility for health, safety, and infection control practices to keep everyone safe

What you’ll bring
