Job summary

Oceania's Elderslea Lodge in Upper Hutt is seeking a Healthcare Assistant to support residents with daily living, dignity, and comfort. You will work with Registered Nurses and care plans to deliver person-centred care in a warm, respectful environment.

This role suits someone with at least one year in caregiving, a compassionate approach, and strong communication. You’ll join a values-driven team committed to safety, wellbeing, and making a difference every day.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience in caregiving or aged care.
• Compassionate, patient, and respectful approach to caring for older adults.
• Clear communication skills and a strong team-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care in a way that maintains dignity, privacy, and comfort.
• Support residents with daily activities such as hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and hydration.
• Observe and respond to residents’ physical and emotional needs, escalating concerns appropriately.
• Build warm, respectful relationships with residents and their families/whānau.
• Create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment that promotes wellbeing and independence.
• Follow individual care plans and work closely with Registered Nurses to ensure high-quality care.
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with residents, families, and your wider team.
• Take responsibility for health, safety, and infection control practices to keep everyone safe.

• Flexibility to work a rotating roster, that may include weekends and night shifts
