Job summary

The Department of Conservation is seeking a senior Health, Safety and Security specialist to strengthen risk-informed assurance across DOC. You will lead system development, deliver assurance activities, and translate complex data into actionable insights for leaders across Aotearoa.

This full-time role requires strong stakeholder engagement, a tertiary qualification in Health, Safety and Security, and the ability to travel as needed. A flexible work location across Aotearoa is supported.

Qualifications

• Experience in health, safety and security systems, assurance, investigations, reporting or performance improvement.
• Strong knowledge of risk management principles, assurance methodologies and management systems.
• Advanced analytical capability and experience translating complex information into practical insights.
• Experience producing governance reports, briefings and performance reporting.
• Strong understanding of data quality, performance measures and reporting tools.
• Experience improving systems, processes and organisational frameworks.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
• Full NZ drivers licence and ability to travel for work as required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, review and continuous improvement of health, safety and security systems, standards and guidance.
• Deliver assurance activities, reviews and evaluations to measure system effectiveness and control performance.
• Analyse data, trends and organisational performance to provide meaningful insights and recommendations.
• Develop governance reporting, dashboards, briefings and performance measures for senior leaders.
• Provide specialist advice and leadership on systems, assurance, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.
