Job summary

Department of Conservation is seeking a Senior Health, Safety and Security leader to guide a high-performing team across DOC. The role focuses on embedding risk management, organisational capability, and proactive safety culture while supporting multiple sites across Aotearoa.

You will provide strategic direction and coaching to leaders, oversee security programmes, and partner with regulators to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Senior health and safety practitioner with leadership of dispersed teams.
• Knowledge of HSWA 2015 and associated regulations.
• Experience delivering risk management and organisational improvement programmes.
• Strong coaching, mentoring and stakeholder engagement capability.
• Willingness to travel and hold NZ driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead a high-performing health, safety and security team across DOC.
• Deliver critical risk management, assurance and improvement programmes.
• Provide high-quality risk advice to senior leaders and leaders across DOC.
• Foster organisational capability and a learning culture.
• Partner with regulators and external stakeholders to strengthen safety culture.
