Tend Health Ltd invites a Health and Safety Manager to lead our safety program across clinics nationwide. You will turn policy into practical actions that staff, patients and visitors can rely on.

The role blends hands-on site work with governance oversight, delivering risk controls, audits and reporting to executives. Strong clinical credibility and NZ regulatory knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• NZ Diploma in Workplace Health and Safety Management (Level 6) or NEBOSH/related degree, NZISM membership or eligibility.
• Experience advising or managing health and safety across multiple sites.
• Experience implementing and running a health and safety management system, audits, investigations, and reporting to senior leaders or a board.
• Strong knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and applying it in clinical settings.
• Credibility with clinicians, managers and executives, and the ability to challenge constructively.
• Clear, plain-language communication and ability to turn data into recommendations.
• Ability to work independently across many sites with a full NZ driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Own and develop our health and safety management system, including incident reporting, corrective actions, audits and risk registers.
• Lead risk management and investigations, set standards for security, de‑escalation and lone working, and escalate notifiable events to WorkSafe NZ.
• Run site inspections and audits; support clinics with Foundation Standard and Cornerstone accreditation.
• Prepare monthly governance and board reporting with insights and recommendations.
• Collaborate with Property team and landlords on duties, fitouts and emergency planning; manage contractor processes.
• Run Health and Safety Team Engagement Forum and build capability in clinic leadership teams.
• Promote a speak-up culture and apply Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles across all work.
