Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking an experienced Health and Safety Lead for Major Projects to provide specialist oversight from planning to handover across a portfolio of infrastructure initiatives. You will ensure critical risk controls, Safe Systems of Work and robust assurance across projects, working with project teams, contractors and clinical/operational stakeholders.

Qualifikationen

• A relevant qualification in health and safety, risk management, engineering, construction management or a related discipline.
• Significant experience in high-risk environments.
• Experience supporting major capital projects through planning, design, construction, commissioning and handover.
• Strong knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015.
• Ability to implement and verify critical risk controls and Safe Systems of Work.
• Experience in contractor due diligence, performance monitoring and health and safety assurance.
• Ability to interpret audit findings, incident information and project reports, identify trends and recommend actions.
• Strong communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to give practical advice and elevate material risks.
• Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a commitment to equitable outcomes for Māori.
• Professional membership or certification (ProfNZISM, HASANZ, NEBOSH, ISO 45001) would be an advantage.

Aufgaben

• Provide specialist oversight across a portfolio of major capital projects from planning and design through to construction, commissioning and handover.
• Verify that health and safety controls are effective on site and address emerging risks.
• Oversee assurance and reporting across projects, including audits, incidents and contractor monitoring.
• Collaborate with project teams, contractors, clinicians and leaders to ensure requirements are understood and applied.
• Share lessons learned between projects to improve future delivery.
