Job summary

Auckland Council's Birkenhead Pool and Leisure Centre is seeking a Team Leader Learn to Swim and Customer Support. You will lead two portfolios to ensure safe, high-quality Learn to Swim delivery and exceptional customer support experiences.

You will balance people leadership with operational delivery, supporting staff and delivering inclusive experiences for our community. 9-month fixed-term, 40 hours/week, roster across seven days.

Qualifications

• Proven Learn to Swim delivery experience with high-quality outcomes.
• AUSTSWIM or equivalent instructor qualification.
• At least four years of proven people leadership, with ability to coach and hold teams to account.
• Experience growing a service or operation, improving participation and performance.
• Translate strategy into practical actions and deliver measurable results.
• Strong commercial and operational judgement to drive improvements.

Responsibilities

• Lead Learn to Swim and Customer Support teams to deliver safe, welcoming experiences.
• Oversee safe, high-quality Learn to Swim delivery and front-line customer support.
• Coordinate staffing, service delivery and priorities across both functions.
• Monitor service quality, participation and feedback and drive improvements.
• Build relationships with customers, whānau, schools and internal stakeholders.
• Contribute to centre performance and financial outcomes.
