Job summary

The Ministry of Social Development in Wellington is seeking an experienced Manager Communications Channels and Content to lead the Service Delivery Communications function and provide strategic and operational leadership across channels and content delivery.

You will drive high-quality, accessible content across websites, letters, emails and digital channels, build relationships with MSD stakeholders, and foster an audience-centred culture while guiding governance and standards.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in senior communications leadership roles, preferably within the public sector or a large operationally focused organisation.
• Strong experience in channels management, content development and audience-focused communication practice.
• Demonstrated experience establishing standards, governance and improvement approaches across channels and content functions.
• Expertise in using performance data, audience insights and feedback to shape strategy and improve outcomes.
• Proven people leadership experience, including building capability, supporting high performance and creating alignment across teams or functions.
• Sound experience in strategic planning, operational management, project management, financial management and performance monitoring.
• Experience delivering written, visual, video and digital content that is clear, accessible and engaging.
• Experience working with communications and publishing platforms, including web, intranet, social and digital channels.
• The ability to lead teams through change while maintaining delivery quality and momentum.
• A good understanding of the public sector environment, government processes and the context Service Delivery operates in.
• A commitment to Te Pae Tawhiti, Te Pae Tata and Pacific Prosperity strategies and a Te Ao Māori perspective in BAU work.
