Job summary

Brydone Hotel in Oamaru’s Victorian Precinct seeks a dynamic Food & Beverage Manager to lead our restaurant, bar, and events operations. This hands-on role reports to the Hotel Manager and requires LCQ/Manager’s Certificate, strong leadership, and a customer‑focus mindset.

The position offers a full-time, on-site role with a salary range of NZD 68,000–75,000 per year and a minimum of 35 hours per week, plus staff meals and discounts, with opportunities for career development.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ relevant Food & Beverage management experience; hotel experience preferred.
• Relevant hospitality qualification or equivalent experience.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Sound understanding of hospitality financials, including GP, cost control, and budgeting.
• Current LCQ and Manager’s Certificate
• Strong working knowledge of SwiftPOS or similar POS systems
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
• Passion for delivering exceptional customer service

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily food and beverage operations to ensure smooth service
• Lead, train, and motivate front‑of‑house team members
• Manage rosters, staffing levels, and labour costs
• Maintain high standards of service, presentation, and cleanliness
• Work with the Head Chef on menus and seasonal offerings
• Manage stock control, ordering, and supplier relationships
• Ensure compliance with NZ health & safety, food safety, and licensing requirements
• Drive revenue through promotions, events, and guest engagement
• Prepare operational and financial reports
• Handle guest feedback professionally and proactively
