Job summary

Care on Call in New Zealand is seeking compassionate Residential Support Workers to help people live independently and safely. You will provide person-centred support, assist with daily living tasks, meal prep, and household duties, while promoting dignity and independence.

Join a supportive team with induction, ongoing training and opportunities to gain NZQA-recognised qualifications. Full time/part-time/casual roles available, with 24/7 management and after-hours support.

At Care on Call, we're passionate about supporting people to live independently, safely, and with dignity. We are seeking compassionate and reliable Residential Support Workers to join our team and make a positive difference in the lives of the people we support.

About the Role

• Provide person-centred support in line with individual service plans.
• Assist with personal care, daily living activities, meal preparation, and household tasks.
• Support clients to participate in their community and achieve their personal goals.
• Build positive relationships with clients, family/whānau, and colleagues.
• Maintain accurate documentation and report any changes in client wellbeing.
• Follow organisational policies, health and safety requirements, and the Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers' Rights.
• Have training in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) or have experience applying PBS principles (not essential but ideal).

Key Responsibilities

• Provide personal care, daily living support, meal preparation, and assistance with mobility while promoting dignity, choice, and independence.
• Support household tasks including cleaning, laundry, shopping, and maintaining a safe home environment.
• Deliver person-centred support in line with individual plans and goals, while building positive relationships with clients and their family/whānau.
• Monitor client wellbeing and promptly report any changes, risks, incidents, or concerns.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and health professionals to provide consistent, high-quality support.
• Follow organisational policies, health and safety requirements, and the Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers' Rights.
• Contribute to quality service delivery through accurate documentation, risk management, and continuous improvement practices.

Essential Requirements

• Full New Zealand Driver Licence and reliable transport.
• Legal right to work in New Zealand.
• Ability to pass a Police Vetting check.
• Hold at least a completed Level 2 NZQA Health and Wellbeing qualification.
