DUTY MANAGER – LIQUOR HEAVEN

Guaranteed Hours: Minimum 30 hours per week Maximum 32 hours

About the Role

Liquor Heaven is looking for an experienced, reliable and responsible Duty Manager to join our liquor store in Papakura, Auckland. The successful applicant will be responsible for supervising the store during their shifts, providing excellent customer service, supervising staff, assisting with stock control and ensuring the responsible sale of alcohol and compliance with the conditions of the storesliquor licence.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise the day-to-day operation of the store during rostered shifts.
• Supervise and coordinate retail staff and allocate duties as required.
• Ensure staff provide professional and efficient customer service.
• Open and close the store in accordance with company procedures.
• Ensure compliance with the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 and the conditions of the premises liquor licence.
• Act as the certified Duty Manager while on duty.
• Ensure appropriate age identification and verification procedures are followed.
• Ensure intoxicated persons and minors are appropriately managed in accordance with legal requirements.
• Assist customers with product enquiries and handle customer complaints professionally.
• Process sales and supervise cash and EFTPOS transactions.
• Complete end-of-shift cash reconciliation and other required records.
• Receive and check stock deliveries against invoices and purchase documentation.
• Assist with stock ordering, replenishment, rotation and stocktakes.
• Monitor stock levels and advise management when additional stock is required.
• Ensure products are correctly priced and appropriately displayed.
• Assist with promotional displays and merchandising.
• Monitor the store for theft, suspicious activity and other security concerns.
• Ensure the store is maintained in a clean, safe and presentable condition.
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures.
• Maintain required Duty Manager and licensing records.
• Report operational, staffing, customer, stock or compliance issues to the director
• Perform other reasonable duties associated with the Duty Manager position.

Minimum Requirements

• Applicant must hold a current Licence Controller Qualification (LCQ).
• Must hold a current New Zealand Manager Certificate.
• Must have relevant qualification in business/hospitality or one experience working in a retail or liquor store environment.
• Have a good understanding of responsible alcohol sales and New Zealand liquor licensing requirements.
• Be confident supervising staff and managing store operations during a shift.
• Have good communication and customer service skills.
• Be reliable, responsible and able to work independently.
• Be comfortable with cash handling, EFTPOS, stock control and general store administration.
• Be available to work flexible rostered hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
