Job summary

Foodstuffs South Island Limited Rolleston is seeking an experienced Grocery Dry Goods Supervisor to lead the Dry Goods team, keep stock well organised, and deliver an excellent shopping experience for customers.

This full‑time, hands‑on leadership role reports to the Nightfill Manager and Duty Manager, involves midnight finishes, and requires coaching and motivating the team to achieve high standards of stock presentation, safety and service.

Qualifications

• Previous supermarket experience is essential.
• Proven experience leading and motivating a team.
• Physically fit with ability to perform regular heavy lifting.
• Comfortable with late shifts and midnight finishes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the Dry Goods team to meet daily targets.
• Oversee shelf filling, merchandising, and stock presentation.
• Ensure product availability and proper stock rotation.
• Coach, train and motivate team members.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment.
• Work with Nightfill Manager and Duty Manager for smooth operations.

Job description

We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Grocery Dry Goods Supervisor to join our Grocery team. This is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for ensuring the Dry Goods department is well stocked, organised, and operating efficiently while delivering an excellent shopping experience for our customers.

Reporting to the Nightfill Manager and Duty Manager, you will lead by example, support the wider Grocery team, and help drive high standards across the department.

This is a full‑time position. Shifts will include midnight finishes, and flexibility with working hours is essential.

What the role involves:

• Leading and supporting the Dry Goods team to achieve daily operational targets
• Supervising team members and ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and accurately
• Overseeing shelf filling, merchandising, and stock presentation standards
• Ensuring product availability and correct stock rotation across the department
• Coaching, training, and motivating team members to achieve department goals
• Maintaining a safe, clean, and well‑organised work environment
• Working closely with the Nightfill Manager and Duty Manager to ensure smooth department operations and excellent customer service

What we’re looking for:

• Previous supermarket experience is essential
• Proven experience leading and motivating a team is essential
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks in a fast‑paced environment
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills
• A positive, hands‑on leadership style with a strong work ethic
• Physically fit and capable of performing regular heavy lifting throughout the shift
• Comfortable working late shifts with midnight finishes
• Reliable, proactive, and committed to maintaining high standards
• Availability to work rostered shifts, including weekends as required
• Specific days and hours will be discussed at interview
