Job summary

Four Square Te Puna is seeking an experienced Grocery and Liquor Manager to lead the busy store’s day-to-day operations, drive sales and manage inventory, pricing and promotions. You will develop staff rosters, recruit and train employees, and ensure health and safety standards are met while delivering exceptional customer service.

You will oversee operations, monitor performance against targets, optimise layouts and promotions, and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and the management

Qualifications

• Two years of relevant retail management or supervisory experience.
• Level 4 or higher qualification in any field.
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to meet financial and operational targets.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the grocery and liquor store.
• Meet sales, gross profit, contribution and cost targets.
• Develop and implement operational plans to improve store performance.
• Monitor sales trends and take corrective actions when needed.
• Manage inventory, ordering, stock, wastage and related costs.
• Ensure accurate pricing and effective promotions and merchandising.
• Plan store layouts and product displays to maximise visibility and sales.
• Maintain high standards of store presentation and customer service.
• Handle customer enquiries and resolve complaints promptly.
• Develop staff rosters and workforce plans to manage wage costs.
• Lead recruitment, onboarding and ongoing staff development.
• Set performance expectations and manage staff performance.
• Identify staff development and succession opportunities.
• Ensure health and safety, food safety and store policies are followed.
• Monitor risks and incidents and report them.
• Maintain relationships with suppliers, merchandisers and other contacts.
• Collaborate with Owner Operator on business planning and initiatives.
• Review performance and implement improvements for efficiency and profitability.
• Foster a positive, professional, customer-focused culture.
